A magical landscape, world-famous beaches with crystal clear waters and harbors like paintings!
We depart from the Port of Heraklion with our expert guide at 09.30 a.m. and we arrive directly in Milos Island with Minoan Lines at 13.50 p.m. (possibility for lunch on the boat).
After our arrival at the Port of Milos, we depart by bus to explore the island’s attractions. Our first stop is Trypiti, 5 km. from the port. Here we will admire the catacombs, which are the oldest monument of Christianity and, together with the catacombs of Rome and the Holy Land, are among the most famous and remarkable monuments in the world. For this reason, Milos has been described as a “Holy Island”. Later, we will visit the Ancient Theater and the place where the famous statue of Aphrodite was found. We continue to the island’s capital, Plaka, where we can enjoy the beauty of its whitewashed houses and picturesque alleys that compose a magical image, gazing at the sea from above. We can visit the church of Panagia Korfiatissa, which is dedicated to the Birth of the Virgin Mary and was built in 1810. Its courtyard is paved with marble tombstones from the old town. The church contains relics from old churches of Milos and has a remarkable gilded iconostasis. The church houses an epitaph from 1500 from Smyrni (Izmir) and the icon of Saint John the Theologian of Siderianos from the monastery of the same name. We will also see the Church of the Substitute of Christ or Panagia Thalassitra, which is the patron saint of sailors and the most photographed church on the island. It is located in one of the most beautiful spots on the island and we will encounter it as we climb to the Castle. As we continue our exploration, we will stop at the notorious Sarakiniko Beach, the most famous beach in Milos. We will have time there for some rest and enjoyment of this unique place. Continuing to Pollonia, we will pass by Mytakas, Alogomandra, Pachaina and stop at one of the most important settlements in the prehistoric Aegean, Phylakopi. Our final destination is Pollonia, where we will have free time for swimming and some good wine! Returning late in the afternoon, we will visit the Mining Museum and later we can enjoy the best snacks at “Oh! Hamos” tavern or wherever else we would like!
Departure from the Port of Milos at 01:20 a.m. with our arrival the next day early in the morning at the port of Heraklion.
